Transatel’s MVNE platform and services chosen to support Post Office Mobile

Winner for the third time in a row of the Best MVNA title at the MVNO World Congress, Transatel is now operating the MVNO service behind Post Office’s first ever mobile telephony service: Post Office Mobile. This competitive and compelling new MVNO uses EE’s network, Transatel’s long-time partner for its MVNO and Machine-to-Machine activities.

Post Office Mobile offers to “Pay Less As You Go”

The Post Office, the UK’s largest retail network (around 11,500 Post Office branches) and fastest-growing UK financial services provider, has launched a new mobile telephony service, Post Office Mobile, and appointed Transatel, the award winning and leading MVNA in Europe, to provide the MVNE services (provisioning, real-time control and rating, prepaid management) and the wholesale connectivity over EE’s network. Mobile services are the last addition to a portfolio of more than 170 different products and services which the Post Office offers.

Transatel chosen as enabler of the service

The Transatel platform currently hosts over 80 different MVNOs, 27 of which service the UK. Other partners in the UK for MVNE/MVNA services include Life Mobile, Lomo Mobile, China Telecom, the Co-Operative Mobile, The People’s Operator and Globe. Transatel is also a major player in the rest of Europe covering France, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Transatel’s award winning MVNE/MVNA platform enables a variety of specific mobile services developed in-house for clients over the 15 years of company existence. Perfectly scalable and therefore able to absorb a large number of new connections, Transatel currently supports over 1.6 million SIM cards spanning all of its activities.

Transatel Deputy CEO Bertrand Salomon: “We are delighted to be working with the Post Office as they launch their new mobile telephony service. The Transatel-Post Office partnership should re-inforce Transatel’s current position as the leading European MVNE”.

As an M2M solutions provider, Transatel allows M2M players to add airtime connectivity to their services and applications. Transatel’s main M2M partners are EE in the UK and Salt in Switzerland.

Transatel also provides solutions for embedded connectivity for device manufacturers or end-users. The technology is based on SIM 901, a non-geographic Mobile Network Code (MNC) dedicated to multi-country 3G/LTE-only propositions.

Finally, as an MVNO, Transatel offers tailor-made packages for frequent-travellers and cross-border professionals under its own brands: Transatel Mobile, Eurokeitai, Le French Mobile and Transatel Rental.
