Can eSIM and eUICC be used interchangeably for IoT connectivity?
eSIM and eUICC are related but not interchangeable. The eSIM refers to the embedded SIM hardware, a soldered chip inside a device that replaces a traditional, removable SIM card.
The eUICC, on the other hand, is the software functionality that allows remote SIM provisioning (RSP), enabling operators to download, activate, or switch carrier profiles over the air.
In IoT, an eSIM without eUICC acts like a fixed SIM tied to one carrier, while an eUICC-enabled eSIM allows flexible, scalable global connectivity by supporting remote carrier management.
