Thursday, May 16th, 2024 – After a few years away from hosting client events, the Transatel team, in partnership with BT Wholesale, made a grand return by hosting the 2024 “Go for Gold” UK client event at the stunning BT Snowhill offices, which offer breathtaking views of the Birmingham skyline. The day’s theme, “Go for Gold,” inspired MVNOs to seize new market opportunities, drawing energy from the major sporting events of summer 2024. The agenda was packed with insightful presentations, thrilling announcements, and plenty of networking opportunities, promising an exhilarating day ahead.
As guests, including Transatel’s MVNO partners, BSS collaborators, and the BT Wholesale team, stepped into the grand foyer of the Snowhill building, they were warmly welcomed by the enthusiastic Transatel team, setting an upbeat tone for the day. Old friends and new connections mingled over a hot brew before the jam-packed day began. James Gray, Director of Graystone Consulting, kicked off the event by emphasizing the day’s focus on learning and networking—two pillars of success in today’s dynamic market.
Jacques Bonifay, CEO of Transatel, and Nick Wootten, Head of BT Wholesale, took the stage to discuss the vast opportunities within the MVNO market. They underscored the critical importance of crafting brands and offers that truly resonate with consumers’ needs and expectations. Rob Watts, an analyst with the EE Insights team, echoed these insights in his market overview, highlighting how MVNOs are steadily gaining market share in the UK. This trend is expected to grow as consumers increasingly prioritize value and personalized services. The audience’s keen interest in these expanding opportunities for MVNOs was reflected in the optimism surrounding the sector’s future.
Lyes Tadjer, Head of MVNx at Transatel, and Richard Hooper, Head of Product at BT, took the stage to unveil an exciting joint product roadmap between Transatel and BT. Their presentation focused on a range of products designed to enhance the MVNO offering in the short, medium, and long term. However, the real showstopper of the morning was a live eSIM demonstration that left the audience both surprised and thrilled. As the session wrapped up, attendees headed out for lunch, buzzing with excitement.
Over lunch, guests eagerly dissected the morning’s insights, diving deep into discussions about market opportunities and what the rest of the event might hold. The afternoon session kicked off with two compelling client presentations, sparking a flurry of questions and lively discussions as attendees sought to understand different market strategies. The atmosphere was electric, with a strong sense of camaraderie as guests exchanged ideas with the presenters.
Philippe Vigneau, VP of Sales at Transatel, delved into the opportunities in the data roaming and IoT markets. The event concluded on a fun note with a light-hearted quiz organized by the Transatel team. Guests mingled over drinks, reflecting on the day’s knowledge and discussing its potential applications.
As the (gold) dust settled on the 2024 Transatel client event, guests left with fresh connections, new insights, and a shiny new coffee mug. Transatel extends its heartfelt thanks to BT Wholesale and the events teams for their impeccable hosting and management, James Gray for his stellar role as MC, the presenters for their valuable contributions, and all the guests for their participation and enthusiasm.
